Marty Chafin, President and Founder of Chafin Consulting Group, has over 30 years of strategic planning & business development experience in the healthcare industry. Marty is an experienced strategist with operational experience and understanding, making her uniquely qualified to work with healthcare organizations in the assessment and implementation phases of projects. Marty specializes in data-driven market analyses and use of business analytics to develop actionable recommendations that ultimately increase market share and revenue for clients.
Marty has extensive experience working with key internal and external stakeholders for health systems, including Board members, Executive Administration members, community leaders, physicians, and local politicians. Her clients are predominantly long-term clients that continue to benefit from Chafin Consulting Group’s collaborative, hands-on approach and commitment to their needs. Marty works with healthcare clients across the country, and has been qualified as a health planning expert in regulatory hearings in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee and has presented to the regulatory review boards in Rhode Island and Illinois. Marty also has international experience, working with Qatar’s Supreme Council of Health to facilitate the development of the country’s health services’ regulatory framework.
Marty obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management, with a Health System concentration, from Georgia Tech and a Master of Science in Marketing degree, with a concentration in Research Methods, from Georgia State University. Marty received a Health Services Administrators’ Development Program Certificate from the University of Alabama Birmingham, is a designated Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) by the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA), and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
In addition to her consulting work, Marty has experience teaching at the graduate level as an adjunct faculty member of the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. Marty has taught masters level Health Services Administration Program courses for USF including the Health Services Planning & Marketing course and the Research Methods course. In addition, Marty has taught graduate and undergraduate courses for Brenau University in Gainesville, GA and DeKalb Technical College.
Kathleen Lewis, Vice President and Co-Founder of Chafin Consulting Group, has over 30 years experience in business development, healthcare consulting practice management, and software development and sales. Her expertise is in developing client services and consultation strategy as well as identifying key consulting priorities for the company. Kathleen's experience includes using her skills to find common themes in qualitative data to address various issues in the healthcare industry and presenting that data to clients in a meaningful format. Kathleen is also responsible for developing project application processes for the company, as well as project management and budgeting. Her expertise includes identifying new ventures and affiliations within the healthcare marketplace for Chafin Consulting Group. Prior to Chafin Consulting, Kathleen worked in enterprise-wide software sales and development.
Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Jacksonville State University.
Deborah Armstrong has over 35 years in healthcare clinical operations and executive leadership, with recent experience as a Chief Executive Officer at non-profit and investor-owned hospitals in large systems. As a transformational leader, Deborah has a proven record for both clinical and financial turnarounds, reaching competitive net margins while achieving nationally recognized performance metrics for quality and patient safety. Deborah has demonstrated competencies and achievements in healthcare compliance, strategic planning, service line and physician practice development while enhancing physician and employee engagement. Prior to her roles as CEO, Deborah served in a variety of other executive roles including vice president of clinical services and chief operating officer, as well as early work managing various service lines and clinical departments.
Deborah holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Georgia State University and a Master of Science in Healthcare Policy and Administration from Mercer University. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), past-chair of the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and has served and continues to serve on various non-profit boards.
Anne Finlon has over 35 years in the healthcare finance field. Anne is an experienced healthcare Chief Financial Officer and finance senior manager with extensive expertise in financial planning, strategy, proforma development, and Regulatory and Treasury Compliance. Prior to becoming a consultant, Anne was Chief Financial Officer at several Georgia and south Florida Hospitals for 16 years. Before working as a Chief Financial Officer, Anne was Director of Financial Planning at a south Florida health system and Senior Auditor/Consultant with Price Waterhouse. More recently, Anne worked extensively with small safety-net hospitals in rural communities throughout the U.S. as the Director, Strategy for Quorum Health Resources, Inc.
Anne is a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA) and maintains certifications in Managed Care and Physician Practice Specialties with the HFMA. Anne obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Health Science (MHS) from the University of Florida.
